Juan and Carlos partnered Warwick Powell and Charles Morris, who made the World’s first livestock tokenization with Beefledger. Dennis Menendez and Wayne Teigen join the team to create Liberty Post, a platform with Beefledger technology to register the provenance of food and the agents who processed it, and commercialize it in USA.

Our story dates back to the end of 2018, when Juan Litovichi and Carlos Hug de Belmont launched Verafood as a solution to consolidate meat suppliers from Argentina and Paraguay for retailers associated with the IBM Food Trust platform. This solution connected large retailers with certified meat producers, whose production would be tracked from the farm to the retail outlet. During the pandemic, which disrupted global supply chains, the IBM Food Trust project reached a dead end. Observing its value, Juan and Carlos partnered with the Australians from Smart Trade Networks, a company founded by Warwick Powell (Writer and Evangelist of blockchain technology and supply chains, and Adjunct Professor in the Research and Development Department at the Queensland University of Technology) and Charles Morris (Member of the Future Food Systems). Beefledger, their first vertical, was launched in 2017 to trace and digitize the supply chain processes of Australian beef to the Chinese market. Among several of its milestones, Beefledger was the company that carried out the first tokenization of livestock in the world in 2019. To implement the technology developed by Smart Trade Networks in the American market, Juan and Carlos, along with Warwick and Charles, added Dennis Menendez and Wayne Teigen, former IBM executives who had participated in the Verafood experience, based in Austin, Texas. Together, they created Liberty Post, a platform to register provenance of food and the agents who processed it. This platform was also integrated with blockchain, allowing the tracking of assets across different food chains. From Liberty Post, they have been implementing their traceability solution with Ecuadorian cocoa and chocolate manufacturing in the United States. In 2023, following the new regulation published by the FDA (FSMA Rule 204), Darwin Evolution was born as a technological solution primarily for producers and exporters from Latin America to the United States. Today, Darwin Evolution offers a flexible comprehensive traceability system based on blockchain technology that adapts to the needs of each company, both for large corporations that have most of the value chain integrated and for small companies that do not have a digital management system to manage their production processes.
